In conjunction with World Sea Day 2018, Friday June 8th, iWi, an algae-based nutrition brand, launched its full range of vegan omega-3 supplements, including an omega-3 complex, DHA and EPA. iWi products can be purchased from Amazon, Vitamin Shoppe, and Sprouts Farmers Market.

IWi’s dietary supplements are made from sustainably grown and harvested algae in the arid landscape of the American Southwest, not fish or krill. Each farm uses little more than salt water and sunshine to produce their algae, in which a new crop can be produced every day. In addition, consumers can track iWi’s ingredients from start to finish.

“Our goal is to create sustainable food solutions for the planet and everyone on it – not only through highly sustainable algae that are good for our bodies and our environment, but also by cultivating the relationships between our farms and the surrounding communities” said Miguel Calatayud, CEO, iWi said in a press release.

The brand’s ad campaign features actress Beth Dover, who plays Linda on the Netflix series “Orange is the New Black”.

Looking ahead, iWi plans to develop new products, including protein products, in 2019. This seems like the next logical step as iWi’s algae contain more than 35 percent protein by mass and contain all of the essential and branched chain amino acids – it is a complete protein.
